Mary Frances Reynolds was born in Texas on April 1, 1932. Debbie Reynolds began her career after winning a beauty contest at the age of 16. In 1948, she made her film debut with a small role in June Bride.

She had never danced before, but was chosen by Gene Kelly to star alongside him in Singin’ in the Rain (1952). The film became one of the greatest successes of all time, and Debbie went on to star in numerous musicals and romantic comedies.

In 1955, she appeared in Bundle of Joy, acting opposite Frank Sinatra. Debbie also visited Brazil in 1953, accompanied by Pier Angeli.

She was married to singer Eddie Fisher, with whom she had two children, including actress Carrie Fisher, best known for playing Princess Leia in Star Wars. Her second husband was magnate Harry Karl.

As her film career declined, Debbie continued performing on stage and later purchased a casino in Las Vegas. She is currently gathering items from her extensive collection to create her own museum, featuring movie memorabilia, costumes worn by stars like Judy Garland, and personal keepsakes.

Debbie Reynolds was nominated for an Academy Award for her role in The Unsinkable Molly Brown (1964).
