One of the most significant moments in the history of the Cannes Film Festival occurred in 1968, when filmmakers such as François Truffaut, Jean-Luc Godard and Louis Malle protested against the event in solidarity with the striking French students and workers. As a result, the festival was interrupted before its conclusion.
