Sophia Loren’s Villa: The Italian Star’s Glamorous Home
The villa where Sophia Loren has lived since the 1960s is one of the most beautiful houses in the area. She opened the doors a few times and let herself be photographed. Check it out.

Sophia Loren and Carlo Ponti had a love story worthy of a movie, but they also faced challenges worthy of a dramatic script. After getting married in Mexico in 1957, the couple had to deal with accusations of bigamy and even moved to the French Riviera and then to Switzerland. It was only in 1962 that they managed to regularize the situation and return to Rome, where they found refuge in a stunning villa.
Villa Marino: A Dream in the Alban Hills
In the early 1960s, Sophia Loren and Carlo Ponti acquired a magnificent 16th-century villa in Marino, about 13 miles from Rome. The place, surrounded by hills and nature, was transformed into a true paradise.
With more than 18 acres, the property gained waterfalls, swimming pools, lush gardens and everything that money could offer. The renovation, which cost more than 2 million dollars, included the acquisition of works of art by masters such as Picasso, Chirico and Canaletto.
Art, Glamour and Headaches
The villa’s art collection was impressive, but it also brought challenges. Many pieces were confiscated by the police due to legal issues, and Sophia Loren was even arrested. Fortunately, in 1990, the courts returned the works, and peace was restored.
The villa was not only a home, but a refuge where Sophia raised her children, entertained friends and hosted memorable parties. Even after Carlo Ponti’s death in 2007, the place continued to be her safe haven.
