Angela Brigit MacGill Lansbury was born in London on October 16, 1925. The daughter of actress Moyna Macgill and a politician, she moved with her family to the United States in the 1940s. There she began her studies at the New York School of Drama. At the age of 19, she made her film debut with small roles. She was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for Gaslight (1944), where she starred alongside Ingrid Bergman. Other notable films included “The Picture of Dorian Gray” (1945), in which she starred alongside her mother. This was followed by The Harvey Girls, Samson and Delilah, and The Three Musketeers. Angela married Richard Cromwell at the age of 19, but the union ended after Richard came out as gay. The two remained friends throughout their lives. In 1949, the actress married Peter Shaw again. The couple had two children, Anthoy and Deirde. Shaw passed away in 2003 and the actress has lived alone ever since. Angela is an award-winning actress. Nominated for an Oscar three times, she holds the record for Emmy nominations (12 times in total). The actress also received the title of the Order of the British Empire from Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom.

Angela Lansbury passed away on October 11, 2022, at the age of 96. She was one of Hollywood’s most iconic actresses, known for her memorable roles in film, theater and television, especially as Jessica Fletcher in the series Murder, She Wrote. Her career spanned more than seven decades, leaving an impressive legacy in the world of entertainment.
